THE
APPASWAMY GROUP OF COMPANIES is a well known name
in the city of Chennai. The Group is engaged in such diversified
activities as Property Development, Construction, Hoteliering,
Chits & Finance and Generation of Non-conventional Power through
Wind Mills. The Group was founded in 1958 by Sri S.Appaswamy,
who initially acquired and promoted number of prime lay-outs in
and around city of Madras including a model township at "Sri
Sankar Nagar", Pallavaram. A number of construction projects
followed and the Group acquired an enviable reputation for the
quality of work, timely completion, affordable prices and total
customer satisfaction.
Mr.Ravi Appasamy,
son of the founder joined the business in 1981 and gave further
impetus to the activities of the group. His drive led to completion
of several large Housing Projects. Today the Group has to its
credit over 3 million sq.ft. of built up quality space, with such
rich,novel comforts and conveniences.
Realising the needs of the middle level business
segments and the potential for budget hotels, the group started
‘The Residency’ a 3 star category hotel with 113 rooms
in the year 1991, which was a run away success right from the
day of commencement of operation. After 5 to 6 years of stabilisation,
the group started its second 3 star category hotel ‘The
Residency’ at Coimbatore which also proved to be a successful
venture. Though there was some set back to its operation due to
serious bomb blasts which affected the trade and industry in Coimbatore,
the Hotel has carved a niche for itself that many trade and business
conferences, regions top social functions were held n the hotel.
Both Hotels of the Group enjoy an enviable reputation
for meeting all parameters of the industry, a high level of occupancy,
quality of service, total customer satisfaction and of course
a very healthy bottom line. The key factor for this success is
the Group's commitment to professional management. The group has
recruited top class professionals and has allowed them to function
in an atmosphere of trust, support and confidence.
The group has now built another Hotel with
176 rooms viz, “ The
Residency Towers” situated at a prime location
in the city of Chennai meeting Four Star quality and catering
to the increasing number of international visitors to the fast
growing software industry and the newly comeup automobile MNCs
in and around the city. Though the new Hotel is in the same sector
of the city of Chennai, its addition to the Group will only enhance
its synergy and will result in putting into effective use, the
experience and expertise as well as the professional management
built up over the years by running the earlier units. The group is also entering into strategic tie-ups
and taking up professional management of other hotels in any part
of the country. One such tie up which has crystalised is now in
Bangalore, viz “The Richmond” Hotel.
